Mary McEvoy

Mary was not only very good at dealing with a difficult divorce but she was a very understanding and sensitive person. Important qualities when dealing with these matters!


Mary graduated from Warwick University and joined in 1981 as a newly qualified solicitor and became a partner in 1984.  Since joining Neves in 1981, Mary has specialised in divorce and family law.  She has trained as a Collaborative Lawyer.  Her expertise is reflected in her membership of the Law Society's Family Law Panel.  She is a member of Resolution (formerly Solicitors' Family Law Association).  She is also a Notary Public.

Mary's long experience as a family lawyer means her clients can have confidence in her advice and professionalism. She undertakes much of her own advocacy, representing her clients in court hearings from the beginning to end of their case.  Mary draws on her wealth of experience and her familiarity with local practices and courts, to find practical and beneficial solutions for her clients.  In some cases it is more appropriate to call on the expertise of barristers and the family department has good contacts with experienced Counsel and with expert witnesses.   

She is sensitive to the immense unhappiness which separation can cause. She is also conscious of the financial cost to those involved in the legal system and endeavours to keep these costs as low as possible. She offers a constructive and conciliatory approach to resolving the problems which arise on separation.  She has trained as a Collaborative Lawyer and can help clients to resolve their problems through the Collaborative Law process which involves addressing all issues in a series of meetings with a former partner and their legal representative.

To relax, Mary plays tennis and is currently learning to play bridge.
