As the public sector strike of 30 November 2011 looms, the Public and Commercial Services Union have predicted some 15,000 Ministry of Justice workers will take part in the action. The majority of these workers are employed in the Courts Service.
Acccording to a Courts and Tribunal Services spokesperson, "robust contingency plans" are in place. It is expected that the Courts Service will be amongst the least affected services however some disruption and delay is anticipated. Urgent family cases will be amongst the proritised cases and most Courts are to open as usual. No notice of Courts in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire closures have been received however there will be disrupted services due to the strike action.
