Landlord & Tenant Seminar - A Great Success
Stewart Matthews and Peter Kelly held their inaugural seminar at our Milton Keynes offices on 1st October 2008. The seminar was attended by property investors from across the country interested in learning more about the area of Landlord and Tenant.
The seminar started at 11am with a discussion led by Stewart Matthews about the history of tenancy agreements providing information as to how we got to where we are currently with Assured Shorthold Tenancies. It included information about the tenancy deposit schemes and energy performance certificates, which are (from 1st October) required in respect of all premises that are being rented to tenants. Practical tips were also given for the drafting of tenancy agreements and non-standard clauses that can be inserted to give added protection to Landlord property investors.
Mark Deane from The Mortgage Store concluded the morning with a short informative presentation on the topic of landlord insurance.
After a sociable lunch where delegates had the opportunity of discussing their experiences with each other and during which time experts from a number of Neves departments were on hand to discuss specific queries that delegates had, the afternoon session progressed with Peter Kelly on the issue of possession. Peter looked at the various grounds on which possession of residential properties can be obtained and the notice requirements for each. He provided precedent forms of notices and court forms to assist the delegates in a better understanding of the procedures.
The seminar concluded with a lively question and answer session covering all aspects of Landlord and Tenant.
The day proved to be very popular with many of the delegates enquiring as to when the next seminar would be held. We shall publish further information on future topics and dates on our website, but if you would like us to email details to you then click here to be added to our database.
