A recent Daily Mail article acutely highlights the benfits of having a Lasting Powers of Attorney. In the case of the couple in the article, both sadly lost their capacity to conduct their own affairs. If they had put in place Last Powers of Attorney selecting their own attornies, the Court of Protection would not have appointed a professional deputy (charging at an hourly rate) and legal fees could have been saved.
