Beth Becomes Pod Officer

Beth Woodward a Family Law Solicitor in our Milton Keynes office has been a collaborative lawyer since 2006.  She recently attended a course that was attended by all the collaboratively trained lawyers in Milton Keynes, approximately 25 in number in which the values and working of practices of collaborative lawyers were reaffirmed and discussed.

Collaborative law is a way of resolving issues arising out of a couple separating or divorcing in a non-confrontational way.  Issues involving arrangements for children or financial concerns are dealt with in a series of four-way meetings attended by the separating couple and their lawyers.  At the outset the couple sign up to prioritising their children’s needs, treating each other with respect, and considering the needs not only of themselves but also of their ex and their children.  It enables parties to tailor make their own solutions and often involves thinking outside the box for the couple themselves and also for their lawyers who are present throughout to give legal and practical advice and support.

Beth comments “It was thrilling to see how collaborative law is taking off in the region and spreading like wildfire nationally.  It was interesting to hear of other lawyers' positive experiences and to be able to share my own.”

Beth is the “Pod” liaison officer for the Milton Keynes collaborative lawyers group which involves her chairing the local “Pod” meetings and liaising nationally with other local Pods.  Beth is also a member of the Bedford Pod.  Mary McEvoy in Neves' Luton and Harpenden offices is also a collaborative lawyer and a member of the Bedford and Hertfordshire collaborative law Pods.  For more information on collaborative law please follow these links.
